Women's retreat vs. vacation — what's actually the difference?

Both involve getting on a plane. But a retreat and a vacation do very different things for you. Here's how to know which one you actually need.

Both involve leaving your regular life behind. Both take you somewhere beautiful. Both can involve good food, warm weather, and time away from your responsibilities.

But they're doing completely different things — and knowing which one you actually need right now matters.

A vacation gives you

There's nothing wrong with that. Sometimes that's exactly what you need.

A retreat gives you

The key difference — intentionality

On a vacation → the goal is enjoyment and rest.

On a retreat → the goal is something more. You're there to look at something, feel something, release something, become something.

That requires a different kind of environment — one that's held. Where the facilitators know what they're doing. Where the practices are chosen specifically to take you somewhere.

How to know which one you need right now

A lot of women who come on our retreats say some version of this: "I thought I just needed a vacation, but I realized I needed something more. I needed to actually look at my life."

Can it be both?

Yes. A well-designed retreat includes:

The difference is that it's also doing something beneath the surface — something you'll still feel weeks and months after you come home.

Our retreats are in Mexico, Morocco, and Kenya. If you're trying to figure out which is right for you, we'd love to talk.
